Dr. Amy Batal grew up in Southern California and earned a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. She continued her education with a Master’s degree in Poultry Nutrition from Iowa State University, followed by a Ph.D. from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Dr. Batal was recruited to the University of Georgia, where she spent over nine years mentoring graduate students, conducting research, publishing scientific papers, and presenting findings at conferences around the world.

Following her academic career, Dr. Batal established the nutrition division for Huvepharma USA, serving as Director of Technical Services. After four years, she was recruited by Sanderson Farms—then the third-largest broiler producer in the United States, processing over 14 million birds per week—as Head Nutritionist. During her eight years at Sanderson Farms, she worked hands-on in the field, focusing on broilers and broiler breeders.
