Firman holds a Bachelor of Fisheries and Marine Science from the University of Borneo, Tarakan. Before joining Blueyou, Firman worked for WWF Indonesia as technical field staff and provided assistance to shrimp farmers to get ASC certification, supported reforestation activities, and monitored and evaluated the implementation of AIP Tiger Shrimp in Tarakan North Kalimantan. Since 2020, Firman is the local project leader of Blueyou Kalimantan Mangrove Shrimp Project (KMSP) and oversees local management, planning and set-up of farm level interventions (for mangroves reforestation and best farming shrimp practices) and outreach and engagement of shrimp farming communities for participation in the program. Besides his work at Blueyou, Firman is also engaged at the farming community level as the Head of Environmental Division for the local Association of Tiger Shrimp Farming in North Kalimantan.
