Balasubramaniam V, known as Bala, is a seasoned shrimp farmer with over 29 years of experience and serves as the General Secretary of the Prawn Farmers Federation of India. With an MBA and specialized training in Shrimp Farming and Hatchery Management, Bala has been a prominent advocate for Indian prawn farming, playing a crucial role in policy decisions and the responsible introduction of P. vannamei in India. He has held significant positions in government organisations such as MPEDA, FSSAI, and CIBA, and launched India’s first shrimp QSR chain to promote domestic shrimp consumption. Bala frequently represents Indian aquaculture at national and international forums, sharing his expertise and advocating for farmers.
