Jessenia Angulo is a Senior Environmental and Social Specialist working at The Dutch Development Bank (FMO) since 2018. She is part of the Agriculture, Food and Forestry department, where she is responsible of conducting environmental and social due diligences for new investments against international and sustainability standards, and where she also guides clients (including aquaculture producers and processors) to comply with FMO’s development agenda in terms of Sustainable Development Goals targets and other EU commitments.
Jessenia has over 17-years of private sector experience in business sustainability. She comes from Ecuador where her working career started in the aquaculture sector. From production to export sales, she has been responsible of value chain international certifications implementation including primary production, food processing and manufacturing processes (Organic, Global Gap, Best Aquaculture Practices, Fair for life, ISOs, and Food safety standards). Before joining FMO, she worked at IDH and was a Fisheries and Aquaculture advisor for CBI-Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Besides aquaculture, she also has a vast experience guiding the certification (RSPO, Rainforest Alliance, FSC, Bonsucro, among others) of bigger agriculture supply chains in Latin America and West Africa. Jessenia has a bachelor’s in international business management held in Ecuador, and an MBA held in the Netherlands.
