David is an experienced and passionate sustainable seafood professional. For the past 15 years he’s worked throughout the global seafood value chain to enhance and drive positive change to ensure profitable business, food security and sustainable livelihoods.
David holds a bachelor’s degree in marine biology, a master’s degree in environmental, fisheries & aquaculture management and is working towards an MBA. He started his career on the deck of a lobster boat in the Bristol channel and has been hooked on seafood ever since, working towards sustainable, ethical and profitable fishery and aquaculture supply chains from Scotland to Madagascar, working on fishing vessels, for government (Welsh Assembly Government), NGOs (WWF, Marine Conservation Society, Blue Ventures), certification bodies (MSC), as head of CSR for a Global Seafood brand and own label retail supplier (Young’s Seafood Ltd.) and now as Head of Fisheries and Aquaculture for Sainsbury’s.
